Reflection on Practical 10

My CDS Effective Internet Research (EIR) has come to end.

After one semester of studying this CDS, i have learnt a lot from this lesson.
I have learnt the use and function of different internet search facilities like search engine Yahoo, meta search engine ixquick and Yahoo directory.
This CDS allows me to create my first blog and do blogging weekly.
It also teaches me how to evaluate different type of internet resources.

The most important lesson for me : Using the knowledge i learn from this CDS and apply whenever i am doing an internet research.

Reflection on Tutorial 5&6

How do you feel about using Wiki to virtually collaborate and share your knowledge with others? Is it meaningful to do so? Why?
Would you use Wiki for research in your own Diplomas? Why?

Using Wiki and share my knowledge is indeed very meaningful to do so as it can help people to gain more knowledge about topic. However, one must assure that the facts are really true and real facts if not your wiki will be an useless wiki and only makes people confused.

Though texts of Wiki can be edited by anyone and at anytime, i still will use it for my research in my Diplomas. Because beside using Wiki, i will also use other references that i got from search engines and compare the facts to see if the Wiki is having its true and real facts.

What role does YouTube play in your life? Can you live without YouTube.
How can you use YouTube for research purposes?

YouTube has play an important role of part of my life when i am using internet.
I use YouTube to relax myself by watching to the music videos available there.
I also use it to entertain myself by watching funny and interesting videos.

Why i choose Canada as my dream holiday destination?

Because Canada lies in its natural landscapes and fill with nice scenery.

I have use purpose as a criteria to evaluate the multimedia website. The purpose of showing us the images make one feel like going to there and have a look.

Is aims and objectives are clearly stated?
Ans: yes, the website is about humouring the internet users by using conversion of others, videos and comics.
It also satisfy the needs of the audience which is laughter after visiting talkingcock.com

Reflection on Tutorial 1&2

I think E-learning activity is something meaningful to each one of us because it allows us to do self-reflection on the things we know and gain more knowledge and learning through internet.
After posting my responses to the question given under discussion forum 2, i felt that when posting my answer or engaging in discussions with my classmates , i must think twice before i post my views as i know all my classmates will be looking at it unless i deleted away.
Using online discussion, one can easily discuss with others at the same time as only typing and looking required. However, when it is face to face some people may not discuss and keep quiet.

Reflection on Practical 6

I think using search engines, meta-search or subject directories more effective than using invisible web.
I have try using invisible web like Academic Gateway to search for my result however i cant find the information i need.
I feel that invisible web is useless to me maybe because i so use to using search engines to search for my result.

Reflection on EIR week4&5 practical

Benefits i get when using different search facilities to search for resources related to my topic.
Firstly, each search facilities will result different web pages and with these i have more websites that is related and relevant to my topic.
Secondly, when comes searching my query, i know which search facility best suits my search.
example: if you are searching for jobs, you might want to try using directory because the web pages there were mostly new and updated by people.
Last of all, i know more about the search facilites when i am using them and their functions and features.

Reflection on EIR on 4 Nov 08 week 3

I have chosen "Impact of Alcoholism on youths" as my topic.

So... what i have learnt in my lesson, is to identify keywords and use a different key variations.
In addition, finding out and comparing the strength and weaknesses
in both google and google scholar.
Yes indeed i am impressed by google's search functions/features, with results related to my search coming out less than 1sec. It also has advanced search to make the my search more specific and images which i can look at.
Now that i learn more about google's features, i will try use both google and Yahoo(i always use) to search my query.
I also learn how to cite resources from websites, articles and having Bibliography.
Question : Why must we do citation and bibliography?
To acknowledge the source of information and plagiarism is not allowed.
A must feature when doing research work so that your teacher knows where you get the information from and do you just copy and paste?.
